On 17 November 2017 H.E. Clin. Prof. Emeritus Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, M.D., Minister of Public Health of Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the Field of Protection of Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing of the Population between the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Public Health of the Kingdom of Thailand. The co-signatory is Mrs. Anna Y. Popova, Head of Federal Service, Chief State Sanitary Physician of the Russian Federation. The signing ceremony was presided over by Mr. Poj Harnpol, Chargé D'affaires a.i. and attended by the representatives of both the Russian and Thai authorities.

The Minister of Public Health participated in the Global Ministerial Conference on "Ending TB in the Sustainable Development Era", hosted by the Russian Federation from 15 to 16 November 2017 at the World Trade Center in Moscow. The Ministry of Public Health gives this Global Ministerial Conference a high importance since Thailand was declared 1 in 14 countries with severe tuberculosis outbreak, despite having been relatively successful in preventing and containing TB in high-risk groups such as inmates.

Pursuant to the signing of this MoU, Thailand and Russia have assigned relevant senior officials to coordinate closely on this matter to ensure concrete outcomes.
