On 7-8 February 2019, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, will make a working visit to the Russian Federation with a view of further strengthening the bilateral relations between Russia and Thailand and enhancing cooperation on issues of common interests.
Upon the invitation extended by H.E. Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation during his visit to the Kingdom of Thailand on 9-10 August 2017, the two Ministers will hold bilateral talks as well as sign the 4th Plan of Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (2019-2021).
During this visit, the Thai Foreign Minister will also meet with H.E. Mr. Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
To further promote business activities between the two countries, the Foreign Minister will be accompanied by business delegation of representatives from Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor Office, EXIM Bank, as well as Thai exporters to participate in a business networking and matching event with the Russian counterparts.
The diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Russian Federation dates back to 1897 when H.M. the King Maha Chulalongkorn, also known as King Rama V of Siam, visited the then-capital of the Russian Empire Saint Petersburg. The bilateral cooperation is based on long-standing amity, trust and mutual respect. The modern multi-faceted Thai-Russian relations have been steadily developing and embracing more and more points of convergence.
