Overview of Thailand’s Revised Visa Measures

According to information published by the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on 19 May 2026, the Cabinet of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand approved the revision of Thailand’s visa exemption and Visa on Arrival schemes.

The revised measures include:

1. Granting one visa exemption scheme per country or territory;

2. Revoking the 60-day visa exemption scheme for all 93 countries and territories;

3. Revising the 30-day visa exemption scheme for tourism purposes;

4. Introducing a 15-day visa exemption scheme for tourism purposes; and

5. Revising the list of countries and territories eligible to apply for a Visa on Arrival (VoA) at designated immigration checkpoints.

The details and applicable requirements are prescribed in the relevant Ministry of Interior announcements, which take effect 15 days after their publication in the Royal Gazette.

The relevant Ministry of Interior announcements were published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026. The revised measures will therefore take effect from 15 September 2026.

Latest Information for Countries within the Area of Responsibility of the Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow

The revised measures are national measures of Thailand and apply generally to ordinary passport holders of the countries and territories specified in the relevant official lists.

For the benefit of travellers within its consular jurisdiction, the Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow wishes to provide the following updated information for ordinary passport holders of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Moldova.

1. Russian Federation

The previous visa exemption allowing a stay of up to 60 days in Thailand will end.

However, holders of ordinary Russian passports will remain eligible for visa exemption and may stay in Thailand for up to 30 days under the bilateral agreement between Thailand and the Russian Federation.

2. Republic of Belarus

There is no change to the existing privileges. Holders of Belarusian passports may continue to apply for a Visa on Arrival (VoA) at designated immigration checkpoints and may be permitted to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for up to 15 days.

The VoA fee is THB 2,000, and applications must meet the requirements prescribed by the Thai Immigration Bureau.

3. Republic of Uzbekistan

Both the previous visa exemption allowing a stay of up to 60 days and the Visa on Arrival privilege allowing a stay of up to 15 days will end.

From 15 September 2026, holders of ordinary Uzbek passports must apply for and obtain an appropriate visa before travelling to Thailand.

4. Republic of Armenia

The previous Visa on Arrival privilege allowing a stay of up to 15 days will end.

From 15 September 2026, holders of ordinary Armenian passports must apply for and obtain an appropriate visa before travelling to Thailand.

5. Republic of Moldova

Holders of ordinary Moldovan passports must continue to apply for and obtain an appropriate visa before travelling to Thailand.

Thailand e-Visa Applications

Applicants who require a visa may submit an application for the appropriate visa corresponding to the purpose of their travel through the Thailand e-Visa system at:

Travellers are advised to apply well in advance 14 business days and wait until their visas have been approved before travelling.

Travellers Entering Thailand Before 15 September 2026

Foreign nationals admitted to Thailand under the previous measures before 15 September 2026 may remain in Thailand until the expiry of the period of stay granted to them.

Permission to enter Thailand and the authorised period of stay are determined by Thai immigration police officers at airports and other ports of entry into the Kingdom of Thailand.
