10. Non-Immigrant Visa - Education "ED"

   1. REQUIREMENT  (NON - ED)
 
  This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom to: 
  1.1 study
  1.2 come on a work study tour or observation tour   
  1.3 participate in projects or seminars 
  1.4 attend a conference or training course 
  1.5 study as a foreign Buddhist monk 
   
 

2. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

 
 
  Visa application form completely filled out  
  Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months and a copy of passport  
  - One (4 x 6 cm.) photograph of the applicant (taken within the last 6 months). The photograph must have a light color background with a full-face view of the person without wearing a hat or dark glasses and covering up shoulders.   
     
* Additional document for each purpose of stay as follows:   
  - Original letter from the school, training institution or company in Thailand – The letter must be typed in the school/company’s letter head signed by authorised person and a copy of school license or business registration (Copies of documents must be signed by authorised person and affixed with the official seal)  
  - Original letter from the school, university or institute in which the applicant is currently enrolled, confirming the student status and the purpose of visit to the Kingdom of the applicant  
  Official Note certifying the purpose of travel from the Government Agencies / Embassies or Consulates / International Organisations / State Enterprises inThailand   
  - Evidence of adequate finance.  In case that the applicant is sponsored by a family member, a letter of sponsorship and a proof of relationship (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided.  
     
  For informal courses, e.g. Thai language and cultural training courses, applicants must provide documents which demonstrate that the course meets the minimum requirement as follows:
- If the course is no longer than 5 months, the period of study is at least 4 days per week, 2 hours per day.
- If the course is longer than 5 months, the period of study is at least 5 days per week, 5 hours per day.
 
     
 
In the absence of a required document, a letter explaining the unavailability of such document must be provided.
 
 
 

ALL DOCUMENTS IN RUSSIAN OR OTHER THIRD LANGUAGES MUST BE TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH AND CERTIFIED BY THE NOTARY PUBLIC. 

Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents and/or invite the applicants for an interview as deemed necessary.

  4. VALIDITY OF A VISA  
 
  The validity of a visa is 3 months or 1 year.
  The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom
not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.
   
  5. EXTENSION OF STAY
 
 

    Those who wish to stay longer or may wish to change their type of visa

     The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely
at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

   
  6. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
 
      Nationals of certain countries are required to apply for a visa only at the Royal
Thai Embassy in their home/residence country or at the designated Thai Embassy.
Therefore, travellers are adivised to contact the nearest Thai Embassy to find out
where they may apply for a visa to Thailand before departure.
