On 5-7 August 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand in Moscow,
and the Government of Moscow jointly organized the “Thai Festival in Moscow 2022” at the Hermitage Garden. The Festival was held for the seventh time and being the first after the outbreak of COVID-19. This year Festival is part of the celebration of the 125th anniversary of Thailand-Russian diplomatic relations as well as the 25th anniversary of Bangkok-Moscow relations since their becoming the twin cities in 1997.

On 5 August 2022, His Excellency Mr. Sasiwat Wongsinsawat, Ambassador of Thailand to Russia and Mr. Viacheslav Manuylov, Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, presided over the opening ceremony. Over 400 VIP guests from various sectors, including the Russian government, diplomatic corps, private companies as well as educational and cultural institutions participated.

During the 3-days Festival, there were mixture of the Thai and Russian performances, products and cuisine. To name a few, from the Thai side, there were Thai artists performing Thai cultural dances, a famous Thai singer, Mr. Songsith Rungnopphakhunsri, and a prestigious jazz band led by Dr. Patorn Srikranon. From the Russian side, there were folklore dances from the Government of Moscow and the singers of the Voice of Russia. Moreover, the Hermitage Garden became a catwalk for fashion shows by models from Moscow Fashion Week to promote the Thai silk of the Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture of Thailand, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand showcasing the collections from Thai designers, namely the “CoolMode Silk” and “Eskimo Survival”, alongside the Russian brands, namely “EQ.ONA” and “Vadim Merlis”. There were approximately 40,000 visitors visiting the event.
